There are so many humble yet magnificient churches scattered all around the Dolomites mountains, all with the charming characteristic of not imposing on their surroundings, but rather becoming part of them.
Considering Nature as our most poignant and beautiful manifestation of a sacred Cosmos, it would only make sense that such buildings of divinity would try to establish communication with the the heavens by standing immersed in the landscape, rather then being luxurious and overwhelming monolyths in the middle of a busy city.
Today we celebrate Earth Day, which means celebrating everything we have, everything we are and everything which extends beyond ourselves. Today is the day to re-acknowledge the need to revere and protect the incredible ecosystem we live in, to rediscover its wonders and awe inducing details, to reconnect to the divine symbolism it should hold in our lives.
