“Nurturing Earth” | Mina de S. Domingos, Alentejo (Portugal)
“Through the neverending feeding cycles of renovation, everything’s connected in this complex, yet elegant, system of life…”

Taken during my trip to Alentejo in 2010. I was heading to an almost abandoned village called Mina de S. Domingos, which once bursted with life, inhabited by people who worked on a mine which is now closed. Expecting to find an arid landscape, imagine my surprise when I find that the entrance of the village has this gorgeous lake, surrounded by luxurious trees and green fields. It was one of those moments when you have so many possible angles to shoot, that you start running around like crazy while the sun descends towards the horizon, trying to capture as much as possible of the beauty of the place.
This was one of the shots. I used a soft 3 stop ND Grad filter and my tripod. Aperture f11 and an exposure time of 1/2 second.
