“Ground Control to Humankind” | Ponta da Piedade, Lagos (Portugal)
Ground control to the humans who are not listening, look around, tremble upon the trail of destruction and launch your vessels not to conquer, but to seek for the long lost peace.
Each of these tiny bright dots in the sky are not destinations to inhabit and save us all one day, but rather a reminder of how small we are and how unique and improbably rich our home planet came to be, sculpted by evolution along the aeons of time…
This nightscape was shot in the beautiful Ponta da Piedade cove, located at the end of a very long stair descent, leading to this classic view of the limestone sea stacks. Moon was in first quarter phase, providing perfect illumination to the foreground and midground, and the strong light pollution coming from the nearby Lagos and Portimão cities created a strong tonal complement to the rest of the scene.
